Hyperia Ride Network Infrastructure Installation
Thorpe Park Resort
Background
Thorpe Park Resort is one of the UK’s leading theme parks, known for its immersive attractions, thrill rides, and cutting-edge entertainment experiences. In preparation for the launch of Hyperia. As the UK’s tallest and fastest rollercoaster, the resort required a robust, modern network infrastructure to support both operational systems and enhanced guest connectivity within the new land.
To meet the demands of this high-profile attraction, Thorpe Park needed a future-proof, high-speed network capable of delivering stable communication, real-time monitoring, and seamless wireless coverage across a complex outdoor environment.
Challenge
The Hyperia development required a complete network installation that would:
- Deliver resilient fibre backbone connectivity across the new attraction area
- Support operational systems including ride control, CCTV, ticketing, and communications
- Provide high-performance wireless coverage for guests and staff around the ride
- Handle environmental challenges such as outdoor cabling, external AP deployment, and long-distance fibre runs
- Meet strict performance and reliability standards for a major theme park attraction
Solution
We deployed a full network infrastructure upgrade tailored to the unique operational needs of the Hyperia attraction.
New network cabinets
- Installed 2 new network cabinets within the new land
- Provided secure, well-organised housing for switching, fibre, and communication equipment
Fibre optic backbone installation
- Installed, terminated, and tested 1 x 24-core OS2 fibre optic cable from the distribution point to the main comms room
- Installed, terminated, and tested 1 x 12-core OS2 fibre optic cable linking the main comms room to the remote cabinet
- Delivered high-capacity, low-latency connectivity essential for ride operations and real-time data transmissions
Structured cabling installation
- Installed, terminated, and tested over 100 Cat6a cables throughout the Hyperia ride infrastructure
- Provided reliable wired connectivity for operational hardware and communication systems
Wireless access point deployment
- Installed 12 Juniper Mist AP63 external access points, offering durable, high-performance outdoor Wi-Fi coverage
- Installed 7 Juniper Mist AP33 indoor access points to deliver strong, reliable connectivity in surrounding areas
Results
The completed installation has delivered a high-speed, future-ready network infrastructure fully capable of supporting the Hyperia attraction’s operational and guest connectivity requirements.
Key outcomes include:
- A resilient fibre backbone ensuring fast, secure communication across the new land
- Reliable wired and wireless connectivity supporting ride systems, staff devices, and guest engagement tools
- Enhanced real-time monitoring and operational efficiency for a major rollercoaster attraction
- A scalable infrastructure ready to support future technologies and park-wide upgrades
