Chessington World of Adventures WAP

This project was delivered in collaboration with Netwrx

Background

Chessington World of Adventures is a popular theme park located in the UK, which welcomes millions of visitors every year. The park offers various rides, attractions, and activities to its guests, including roller coasters, safari tours, and live shows. With such a large number of visitors, the park’s management faced the challenge of providing seamless and reliable Wi-Fi connectivity to their guests, employees, and operations teams

Challenge

The park’s previous Wi-Fi infrastructure was outdated, and its coverage was limited, resulting in poor connectivity and slow internet speeds. Furthermore, the park’s vast area and varying terrain made it challenging to provide reliable Wi-Fi coverage. Additionally, the park needed a solution that could support its current and future Wi-Fi demands, such as high-density areas like the restaurants, gift shops, and queues.

Solution

The Juniper Networks Mist Access Points’ deployment started with a wireless site survey conducted by Netwrx to identify the optimal locations for the access points, considering the park’s terrain and existing infrastructure. The access points were strategically placed to supply the best Wi-Fi coverage possible, ensuring a seamless guest experience throughout the park. We were faced with the challenge of providing 2 Cat 6 cables to each wireless access point. In doing so we faced many difficulties such as long and troubling cable routes. In total more than 20Km of cable was used. The use of Cat 6 cable was vital to future expansion and faster data transfer speeds than Cat 5. Varying amounts of mounting methods and fixings were used to fix to several different mounting locations ensuring the access point locations are accurate to the survey conducted.

Results

After the installation of Juniper Networks Mist Access Points, Chessington World of Adventures experienced a significant improvement in Wi-Fi connectivity and network performance. Guests and employees now have reliable Wi-Fi access throughout the park, enabling them to stay connected and share their experiences on social media.
